¡ Vaya Pijamada !

What a pyjama party! FANTASTIC

If the thought of spending an overnight with 25 over excited children makes your blood run cold, you could be forgiven.  I seemed to have good credentials;  a mum of 2,  a teacher,  but as Gabriel and I watched the first comers arriving for our church’s 2nd annual pyjama party, laden with teddies, pillows and unbridled excitement,  I couldn’t help thinking of  being at home on a friday night, a big tub of ice-cream shared between 2, the kids quietly tucked up in their OWN bed and a good film. ( I quickly stifled my yawn and set about to welcome some kids).

You can be so pleasantly surprised in life, and this was one of these events. A WONDERFUL time with all the kids in our church sundays school, and some having brought friends, from 8pm friday to 11am Sat, the time flew past, full of fun, laughter and most of all getting to know each other, the youngest being 3 and the oldest almost 12. We did sleep and quite a lot.

The Sunday school teachers who organised this beginning of year event, laughed at the unforseen team building challenges. The most difficult?, realising that it would take 108 minutes to heat 28 microwave pizzas one by one, 4 minutes a piece, with the children already sitting at the table.!  It’s amazing how many micro pizzas you can creatively ’stack’ in a microwave. 25 happy fed children were none the wiser.

Roll on "La pijamada 2008" and do bring your friends.

P.S. Have you seen my insect bite cream..who said you don’t get mosquitos in Madrid?
